Goodbye Papa Ernie.
Scott's grandfather unexpectedly passed away yesterday afternoon from a massive heart attack. He was outside working in the yard and collapsed, when Nana called the ambulance they were unable to find a pulse and rushed him to the emergency room where he passed away. This has hit our family hard and we are all very shaken up, Ernie was a great man who loved life and his family, he will be greatly missed. Here is a picture of Papa and Deacon, it's one of my favorites.

Deacon is going to have a baby BROTHER!
This morning we went to the doctor and had our second sonogram, we're having another baby boy! Bennett looks great and is healthy and wiggly, perfect just like I knew he would be. :) Before I got pregnant I knew I wanted another boy so Deacon could have a playmate and they be best friends and big time trouble makers. Once my pregnancy started being so different than it was from Deacon I started thinking I was having a girl, but I'm so excited for my little man that he'll have a brother. Willow is going to be relieved that she gets to keep her princess title and doesn't have to share her crown! Ha!
Baby Bennett measured at 7 ounces and 9 inches long, perfect for 18 weeks along. He was kicking and squirming, this is going to be my busy boy I think. I was hoping for a snuggle bug since Deacon has always been so active, but I guess we'll find out once he gets here! Bennett had his hands in front of his face, was sucking on his fingers, and is breech with his feet up by his head... JUST like his brother! He was too squirmy to get a good 4D shot of his face, hopefully next time we have a sono we can get some more pictures. Here are some we got today!
I just bought Bennett his very own lovey! Angel Dear has dozens of designs, but I absolutely loved the frog and just couldn't bring myself to buy anything else. I always buy friends expecting babies a lovey because Deacon loves his so much, I knew it was going to be our first purchase for baby Bennett. I hope he loves it as much as his brother does, it would be precious to have two little boys carrying loveys around. :)

Nokona has a new team-mate! :)
My sweet Nokona girl went to her new forever home last night where she has a loving Mama, Daddy, skin brother and sister, and a fur brother named SHORTSTOP! That's right, both of my babies found the same wonderful family to call their own, and I couldn't be more thrilled! Shortstop's new name is Emerson, but Nokona gets to keep her name because they say it fits her like a glove. (ha-ha!) Emerson's mom had told me that he was having some separation anxiety and asked me for some pointers, but nothing we seemed to try was working. When I first posted Nokona's pictures on FB I knew Amy adored her from the comments she left, and soon I got a message asking if they could meet her and if I thought Emerson might want a sister to keep him company and ease his anxiety. Some of you may remember, but Emerson wasn't an easy foster for us, he was in a lot of pain from his jacked-up testicles and until the last day or so really wasn't dog friendly at all. Things have changed for him since then and he's made some doggy friends, and with Nokona being a submissive girl we decided to try it out and see how things went. I took Nokona home the day of her 10 day hold being up (yesterday) and we decided to give things a night to settle in and see if everyone meshed well. Before I left last night they said I could go ahead and announce it, but I still wanted to see how the night went. I got an email from Amy this morning saying that they two dogs slept all night long snuggled up on the dog bed (a first for their velcro boy Emerson!) and that she doesn't know how their family functioned these last couple of months without Nokona. :)
Welcome home my Nokona girl! You were so much fun to have here these last couple of weeks, I know your new family is going to have nothing but good times with you from here on out. Happy home pictures attached, it's just Emerson and Nokona because the kids were too busy playing for a picture!

17 Week Update.
I'm starting to feel lots of movement now, I'm so excited that the fun part of being pregnant has started! I'm not feeling nauseous much anymore, but the headaches have started and my allergies are driving me nuts! We had a big storm last night, hopefully all the pollen is gone now and I can have some relief. They don't make any good meds for pregnant women with allergies, it's just not fair. I just ordered a new maternity pillow, I absolutely cannot WAIT until it comes in! It truly looks like a little piece of heaven. :) Here is the 17 week update on Little Bean. We find out next Tuesday whether we're having a Bennett or a Graecyn!
Speaking of packing on the pounds, that what it's all about for baby this week. He's adding fat stores that will keep him warm and cozy after he's born. Your baby's weight will increase approximately six times over the next four weeks. Good to know you're not the only one tipping the scale. Also this week:
Your baby is hard at work honing his sucking and swallowing reflexes—all the better for eating that 2 AM (and 5 AM, and 8 AM ...) meal in a few months! The finger- and toenails are beginning to grow from their nail beds, which would explain why he'll need them trimmed almost as soon as he's born!
Your baby weighs nearly 5 ounces and is a little over 5 inches long—about the size of a baked potato (load on the butter and sour cream, please).
Yesterday we took Nokona out to find some pretty flowers to take her pictures by. Bluebonnets are in bloom now in Texas, they're absolutely gorgeous! Hopefully we can take Deacon soon and have some pictures taken of him, I love spring in Texas! Here are some of the pictures we took of Nokona, isn't she a doll? :)

Meet Nokona! :)
Hey there, I'm Nokona!
I'm still very new to my foster home, but so far I'm having nothing but tons of fun! There are other dogs here and a cute little toddler, they all think I'm precious and sweet as can be. I get along with everyone, even the bossy little Boston Terrier, I'm a submissive girl who just wants to play play play all day long. I give lots of kisses and my nub is always wiggling, I'm living the good life now!
Even though I've only been here a short time, I've already shown my foster parents that I'm house trained, crate trained, know to sit for my treats, and have pretty good manners for a young Boxer girl. I'm very curious and bubbly, so I'd love to find a family that will take me lots of places to meet new people and new doggy friends.
Mom says I'm going to be spayed tomorrow so I'll need a few days to recover, but after that I'll be good as new and ready to find my forever family! If you'd like me to come over and play just let my foster mom know and I'll be over in a jiffy! Gotta go, a cute girl like me's got things to do and people to see. Later gator!

Diamond has a new family!
Our sweet Diamond girl went and stole the hearts of The Berka Family last week, now her name is Sophie. She has two skin brothers named Caleb and Jakob, and a Boxer brother named Bismarck. Her mom Kristen is another LBR volunteer so I get lots of updates on Sophie and will be able to see her often. :) Kristen stays home with the kids so Sophie will never be left alone for long, and last weekend she went on her very first road-trip to see her new grandma. I couldn't be happier for my girl! We're going to miss her sweet bubbly little self around the house, but I know she's enjoying her new life with her new family. Welcome home Sophie!

Our Busy Weekend!
Every year Legacy Boxer Rescue has a fundraiser selling roses and other flowers that one of our volunteers donates from his gardening/flower business.
This year we raised over $19,000 for our Boxers!
Here are some pictures from our fun day. :)
All three of my babies LOVE going to "Aunt Kaffy's" they always have so much fun there. :)
Deacon decided we needed to empty it and fill it with clean water so he could play too!
He had so much fun splashing around with the dogs, we're going to have to get him his own pool now.
From left to right: Tuna Roll, Sake, and Maki eating their first bowl of puppy food.
He gets neutered this week and will be ready to find his forever home soon. :)
Here's what's going on with Little Bean this week.
"Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop."
